Hello! My name is Hideyoshi Akai, an actor from Tokyo currently based in LA. I graduated from USC MFA Acting Program, and now living the dream of becoming a working actor! Little did I know, so much of “being an actor,” especially when one is just starting out, is figuring out how to survive and thrive when there are no acting jobs! Oops!
Despite the various challenges, I am always excited for what’s to come, and feel very passionate about the work. I truly believe what we do matters. I want us to keep creating something that deepens people’s understanding of our culture, history, and humanity. I want us to keep expanding our own representation in the media, so that people know “being Japanese” is infinitely complex and that this notion deserves attention and appreciation. I want us to keep exploring and experimenting with our own potential while inspiring people of the next generation.
